There are three different fields of study available at Flatiron School Chicago. Software Engineering and Data Science are offered directly through Flatiron School while UX/UI Design is offered through Designation at Flatiron School’s Chicago Campus. While specific curriculum varies per course, your weekly breakdown will have the same feel. For a 15 week course, you’ll spend anywhere from 1-4 weeks working on programming fundamentals. You’ll then spend weeks 4-7 working on different programming frameworks. Week’s 7-10 you’ll focus on a particular coding language. Weeks 10-12, you’ll learn additional coding frameworks. Weeks 12-15, you’ll focus on personal projects and portfolio building. Week 16, you’ll spend working with post graduate support as you spend time building your portfolio and resume and attending mock interviews. Flatiron School has also partnered with Chicago’s WeWork office to provide you the best and most immersive learning space possible.
While your daily schedule will vary based on your program, you can expect your day at Flatiron School Chicago to start the same way. Starting at 9:00am, you’ll participate in a student led discussion that will breakdown your schedule for the day and review new concepts. By 10:00am, you’ll attend your daily lecture where you’ll break down programming concepts and participate in collaborative discussions. At 1:00pm, you’ll spend time pair programming with others as you build your strategic and tactical coding skills. At 4:00pm, you’ll participate in labs and mini projects to help build your portfolio. At 6:00pm, you’ll review your homework assignment and any strategies for your own personal projects. Two of Flatiron School’s full time courses last for 15 weeks while the Designation course lasts for 24 weeks.

They offer individual career coaching, a vast employer and alumni network, and even a money back guarantee if you don’t secure a job within six months post graduation. Flatiron School boasts a 97% employment rate for on campus graduates which includes an average starting salary of $74,566 per year. Flatiron School graduates have gone on to work at some of the most prestigious companies in and out of tech. Prominent companies include Google, Spotify, IBM, Apple, NASA, Etsy, , and Facebook.
Flatiron School Chicago offers three different full time courses. One of which is offered through the Designation program. These programs range in total cost from $15,000- $15,800. As far as payment is concerned, Flatiron School offers a few options. One method of payment is through financing with Flatiron School’s partners Skillsfund and Climb. If approved, you could have payments as low as $380 a month. Flatiron School also offers an ISA or Income Share Agreement option. The terms of the ISA are as follows: You’ll make a deposit before attending your bootcamp ( deposits vary by program but usually total $2,000), upon graduation, you’ll have a 6 month grace period and once you land a job, you’ll pay 10% of your income back to Flatiron School for 48 months. Payments can be paused and spread out as far as 8 years. The income threshold for repayment starts at $40,000 gross pay per year. While at the Chicago campus, you’ll also have the opportunity to apply for a “Cost of Living Loan” through Flatiron School’s partnered lenders. This opportunity can help make living in chicago lighter on your wallet. Flatiron School also believes in breaking down barriers in tech to make codign available to anyone. That’s why Flatiron School has pioneered their AccessLabs Initiative which waves the down payment fee for anyone currently earning an income of $35,000 per year or less.
